This week's PhotoHunt theme is "Daily". These photos show the result of the daily changes in temperature this time of year. The first photo is from about a week ago when temperatures remained well under zero degrees Celsius (under 32 degrees Farenheit). And here, we see what happens when the temperture rises above freezing for just one day. The thick layer of snow on the overhanging roof behind the garage fell and turned upside down revealing the imprinted pattern of the corrugated roof. Happy Weekend! This week's PhotoHunt theme # 201 is "Cuddly". My question to you folks is, in this menagery of books and cuddly-toys, where is the kitty? Last I woke up last Sunday morning to find Sara nessled in among the children's various toys and books that found their way into the old crib, that Sara has adopted as one of her napping places. PhotoHunt theme #200 is "broken". I have taken this theme very literally because, as the mother of two energetic and optimistic children aged eight and five, many things do get broken. Sometimes these are items are very precious to me for one reason or another. In this case, we are looking at a tiny pitcher that belonged to my maternal grandmother. The children thought they could play with it with their tea set and dropped it on the floor. They did not ask me first, so I first found out about them borrowing it when I heard it crash on the floor. Happy Valentine's Day! Anna PhotoHunt

This week's PhotoHunt Theme is "Lick". I was hoping to get a shot of Cajsa Cat licking water running from the tap in the bathroom. But the best I could do is her licking water from a little blue cup. This week's PhotoHunt theme # 189 is "Technology". Electric lighting is a technology that has changed our world entirely. One example is how we decorate for Christmas. Elisabet is checking to see if there are enough batteries in her Lucia-crown that she plans to wear on the 13th of December. The original tradition was to wear lighted, wax candles, which meant that most wearers wrapped a damp towl on their head under the candled-crown, and could only wear this fire-hazard the short time it takes to slowly and majestically step in and around a room, and sing a few Lucia-songs. A Christmas tree with real candles was also only lit for a short time, and as the high point of a gathering, and then all the candles were quickly snuffed out. A brightly lit room in the evening, was something unusual, expensive and exclusive; something for a very special occation. Modern electric lighting lets us continue working or playing long after the sun has set. And perhaps this is longer than ...

This week's PhotoHunt-theme # 188 is "Bird(s)". If you are having difficulty taking pictures of live birds outside, one solution is to show anything that looks like a bird that you can find in your home. So I searched for birds among my mementos: A painted seagull. More painted multi-coloured birds. A ceramic bird, left profile. Ceramic bird, en face. Or a rubber-duck-police! Happy Weekend! Saturday's PhotoHunt- theme # 187 is " Music", which is more for the ear than the eye. So what is visual about music and can be used for this PhotoHunt theme? I think musical instruments are beautiful objects, especially string instruments. Here is our string family: a child's violin, a child's viola, a violin for an adult and a viola for an adult. The child's violin belongs to Elisabet. Here is Elisabet playing her violin. Erik plays the viola and encourages Elisabet to play her vio lin . This is Elisabet's and Erik's music teacher, Sonja Nichols, who uses the Suzuki -teaching-method. Shinichi Suzuki , who developed this method, prefered to call it the "mother-tongue approach", because he taught young children to play the violin in a similar way that all children learn to speak their native language: with lots of love, encouragement and repetition. This is just a short comment about yesterday's PhotoHunt Theme. If you are visiting Anna's Adornments for the first time, you may want to back to yesterday's post. This is a blog about jewellery-making. But Tnchick's PhotoHunt theme made me write about my father. Anna's Adornment is not a top blog. I don't get that many visitors. But yesterday's post about Daddy's time in Europe during World War II gave me 22 comments! I have tried to comment back and thank everyone who left a comment, but if I have missed you, please be patient. I've got to work an eight-hour shift today and only have a few minutes to post this. This is my father's grave. He was a veteran of World War II. But he did not die in the war. He survived and lived to the age of 88. I would like to honor his memory for this PhotoHunt theme #186, "Veterans/Military". Daddy was a quartermaster in the US army and spent time in Belgium, France, and Southern England. He became an officer because he had a college degree from Columbia University, in New York, USA. He almost never ever spoke of his time in the army in Europe. He was drafted, and being of Swedish descent, he took it as a good omen that he was shipped out on a formerly Swedish ship that the US government used, rented, bought or borrowed, to transport troops to Europe. He came home five years later, when the war ended with the atomic bomb being dropped on Japan. But if that had not been done, he would have been sent to the Pacific. And my brother and I may not ever have been born. My paternal grandmother said that he was a young healthy boy when he went away, and ...

This week's PhotoHunt theme is "Tied". This is a rag-rug woven by a good friend of mine, Boyan Carlsson, who lived in Lunger, outside of Arboga, Sweden. We have many of her handwoven rag-rugs in our home. They are all finished with knots that are tied. PhotoHunt

For today's PhotoHunt-theme, TWISTED, I decided to use objects that are related to jewellery-making. Thus the twisted strands of glass and semi-precious stone beads are my solution to this theme-challenge. PhotoHunt
