Image
This week's PhotoHunt-Theme #206 is "Fresh". What could be fresher than the first spring garden-flowers picked (without permission) by the children, Elisabet and Erik, yesterday, Friday the 26th of March? Happy Weekend! Anna First Commenter: Sparkle the Designer Cat PhotoHunt

Mellow Yellow Monday #59: Earrings, earrings! International Women's Day

Image
To celebrate International Women's Day (or however it's called in English, please correct me, anyone) I would like to show some new earrings that have not yet been listed in my shops. Here are some yellows: Take a closer look at these cat-earrings. I've made them with orange squares too. (These are in honour of Calle Cat's new venture "The Red Cat Society" Take a peek here .) And here are some greens, since Saint Patrick's Day is just around the corner: (Love those little glass squares!) And all the while I was working with these earrings, Elisabet was making a necklace for herself: Well, she actually made two! Happy Monday! Anna P.S. (To the world's best photographers who may happen to stop by an see this post: Yes, I know these shots are horrible with the flash. Yuck. Natural lighting or a tripod and well-placed lamps are better! I have had a terrible day and the sun went down when I finally got around to taking the pics. I promise to not use th...

I am participating in I Heart Faces Photography's Photo Challenge for Week 9 "Hilarious Outtakes". This is Erik as Spiderman. This is Elisabet as a winged fairy or princess. Elisabet with her jewellery-making tools. This is Erik as a happy pirate, perhaps a Capten Jack Sparrow? Here we have a more serious Capten Sparrow. Happy Tuesday! Anna

Alphabe-Thursday-"D" as in "DRESS-UP"

Image
This is the first time I am playing Jenny Matlock's "Alphabe-Thursday" and I have already missed the first three letters. I hope it's alright that I am jumping in at the letter "D". I can think of so many dreadful "D"-words such as "death", "deadly", "drowning", "dragon"; and silly ones such as "doughy" and "dopey". My "D"-word for this week is "dress-up"! Here to the left, is Elisabet illustrating the word "dress-up". Best wishes, Anna

Sara Cat bit Elisabet today

Image
Th e children, Erik and Elisabet, had been playing with our boy-cat, Calle, all week. Calle Cat is a very kind and understanding tom, who never bites. If the children go too far, he just walks away. The girl-cats are not that nice. They can scratch and bite. Calle was at the farm today. So Erik and Elisabet decided to play "kidnap-the-cat" with Sara Cat. Big mistake. Sara bit Elisabet's index finger so that it bled. She has already had a tetanus shot, so she did not have to get one now. But since her hand is swollen, she has to take antibiotics for a week and bathe her sore finger in a mild desinfectant. Elisabet sat bundled in the foldable stroller when we waded ten to fifteen blocks through the snow to get to the clinic. So now you know why I haven't gotten that much done with my blog yet. Hugs and best wishes, Anna P.S. I removed my "Dropaholics"-widget from my blog today. It seems that technical problems made it difficult to maintain. Pity. I thought tha...

No modem until around February 4th!

Image
This time I am sitting at the University Library, CNB (the Norrkoping branch of the University of Linkoping). But Elisabet is with me so I can't stay long. We've had a blizzard here and got about a foot of snow in one night. I'll try to take some more recent pics than this one from before Christmas, but it is bitter cold. Minus 19 degrees Celsius at nine AM. Hugs and thanks to everyone who has stopped by to check on me. Anna

Wordless Wednesday: Lucia

Image
(A not so) Wordless Wednesday: Lucia. Lucia-day is always celebrated on the 13th of December in Sweden. Contests are held in every town and city to elect each year's Lucia, who traditionally, is a very fair-haired girl dressed in a white gown with a blood-red sash and a crown of lit candles, to commemorate the original Saint Lucia, who died a martyr approximately 305 A.D. According to legend, she was burned at the stake, but had to be stabbed in the throat because she would not die . We who live in the North and long for light, use this maiden from Syracuse, as our symbol of light and hope in the darkest hour of winter. But this year, since the thirteenth of December was on a Sunday, all the school children had their Lucia-pagent on Monday the fourteen, either very early in the morning, when it is still dark, or in the late afternoon, when it gets dark again. Here are some shots from Elisabet's pre-school. Elisabet is the short blond girl with the Lucia-crown made of fab...

Sunday thoughts: No pictures from Christmas Suzuki-concert

Image
My dotter, Elisabet, had her first Suzuki Christmas-concert yesterday (along with a hundred other children) and I had no time to even look at my computer. I dropped on practically no one's blog and was very, very late in posting my PH-theme photo. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera with me to the concert. So. silly me, this beautiful milestone in my daughter's five-year-life is lost. She was real cute. She wore her "Swedish"- costume, that was originally made for those who do not come from a region with a traditional folk-costume. Happy Sunday! Anna P.S. By the way, this is my 100th post on Anna's Adornment! Happy Me!

Ruby Tuesday - animal-shaped, manufactured products

Image
For this week's Ruby Tuesday Meme I have chosen the sub-theme "Ruby Tuesday - animal shaped, manufactured products" which means red, man-made objects that look something like different animals. I have two examples of this: The first one is a red mouse-mat in the form of a cat. (Do you see the tell-tale cat-hairs? This is a mouse mat used by a real cat!): The second is an up-dated version of the well-known Swedish design "kobra-telephone", which does look a little like a snake or is indeed "cobra-inspired". There's the brand-name descretely place behind the ear-part. And it's the right colour for today's ruby-meme. "It's for you," Elisabet says and hands me the kobra-phone. It looks big when she holds it, doesn't it? Not a bad Christmas gift? The colour is right. It was very posh when this design was new. This revival model has push buttons and a display, that I have not yet figured out how to use. Happy Ruby Tuesday! Anna
